“Hotel Villa KOEGUI, rooted in tradition, embracing innovation”

On July 2, 2018, the first stone of Hotel Villa KOEGUI and Le Carré was laid. Designed with the region at heart, rooted in the city, both are anchored in Basque culture. Just as the jaun (the master of the house) traditionally engraved his name above the door of his newly built etxe (house), the master of the place sealed the date and the birth act of the Villa KOEGUI in its walls.
Six years passed before the first stone was laid, seven to celebrate the entry of the Hotel Villa KOEGUI and Le Carré into the world.
Seven years to design a 21st-century hotel deliberately rooted in tradition and open to innovation.
Close to the Bonnat-Helleu museum, acclaimed beyond our borders for the richness of its works, particularly that of its conceptors, this elegant hotel is a major asset. It can welcome distinguished visitors, curators, and specialists, as well as attract great collectors and enthusiasts from all background.
This hotel and Le Carré are part of a large-scale urban development.

Insight is manifested in the art of surrounding oneself with the right people.
The hotel's unique façade was imagined by Bernard Signoret, an architect from Anglet, and Jean-Philippe Nuel, an acclaimed decorator-architect known for his work in the world of national and international luxury hotels. They were inspired by the traditional wooden panels and shutters that line the houses of the surrounding streets; they respected the very dense parcel structure of this historic neighborhood by marking the façade's offset. Modernity is reflected in the balance of lines and materials derived from the latest technological innovations, abandoning outdated neo-Basque pastiche: Bayonne is a city with an eye on the future.
As everyone knows, the future takes root in the soil of history and territory: the architects and decorators referenced the Basque and Bayonnais identity extensively; the selected businesses, artisans, and creators were chosen locally for their know-how and energy, which met the demands of the project.

Hotel Villa KOEGUI and Le Carré are now deeply engrained in the city's modern-day life, as envisioned by these who imagined them.
